Martin Zinsli immigrated to the USA in 1872, to a farmstead near Waumandee WI. They had 4 children when they immigrated to the USA. Their son, Gallus would have been about 8 years old when they came to the USA. After children were of age, the parents ran hotels in Independence, Arcadia and Alma Minnesota. They all lived close together on the Mississippi River.
Two cousins immigrated at the same time, Lawrence and Joseph. Lawrence married Laura Miller. Joe never married.  

For the Seventh Generation we have Gallus Zinsli and his wife Anna Gass. My Great Grandfather, Gallus was born in Switzerland.  
In 1906 Gallus moved family to land he purchased north of Wibaux, MT (township 14 North, Range 61 East, Section 18). 

This was some time on or before 1907 because their son William was born there in January 1908. Gallus sold the farm around the year 1920- 1922. Gallus and Anna had three children born in Wibaux MT. 

Later Gallus lived with Mike and Catherine in Sentinel butte, ND  

About or before 1921-22 Mike, (Anton Zinsli) moved from Wibaux back to the St. Paul Minn. area and worked in a meat packing plant. One story about Mike in Minn, was that he and his brother had attempted to enter a rodeo in St. Paul but when asked where they were from they said Wibaux, Montana and because of the great history of Montana cowboys they were not allowed to enter the local rodeo. 

It is thought that “Mike” Anton moved about the same time as his younger sister Mary who married Manny Lemire.  His future wife, Catherine Jerry worked in a bakery and made donuts. They married in 1922. Their son Louis, was born in St. Paul on Oct. 13, 1923. and Mary was born in Aitkin Minn. On May 15, 1925. It was about September or October of 1925 they moved by train to Sentinel Butte, ND. Mike worked on the train crew and Catherine cooked for the train crew. She would put Mary on a blanket near the tracks and Louis would watch Mary. Mary Zinsli Cook moved to Sentinel Butte as a baby with her mother and father and older brother Louis. 

 

Ninth Generation; Mary Catherine Zinsli married Phillip Taylor Cook, JR 

My Mother, ( Mary Zinsli-COOK) did not like the nickname Junior so started calling Dad, PHIL. On April 18, 1944 he married Mary Zinsli at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sentinel Butte. After their marriage the moved to Saco, Montana and worked in an elevator for one year returning to Golden Valley County, North Dakota and worked at the Thelen elevator for one and one half years. After a few years; about 1953; our parents moved the family to Anamosa, Iowa for a new job and then Marion, Iowa.  Phil drove a freight truck until retiring in 1981. Then Mary, Phil and Donna returned home to Sentinel Butte. 

 Mary Zinsli-Cook  is the 9th Generation.
